Every price we charge is on this page, in Australian dollars. You do not need a demo or a quote to see a number, and what you read here is what your card is charged.
- Every plan has a price. That includes the largest one. Nothing is “from” and nothing is on application.
- No GST added. The number on the page is the number on the invoice.
- Cancel it yourself. One click in your own account, with no call and no notice period.
Reference checks are usually sold one at a time, at around $15 to $35 each in Australia. So the simple test of a subscription is how many you do.
A flat plan works out cheaper above about ten references per person per month. Most recruitment consultants do more than that.
If you only hire a couple of times a quarter, you are better off paying $12 a reference on pay as you go and paying nothing in the months you do not hire.

Every plan gives each person their own login. The audit trail only means something if the name against a report belongs to one person.
Not hiring enough for a plan? $12 a reference.
It is free to open, there is no monthly fee, and you do not need a card until you send your first reference. You get the same 14 question sets, reports and audit trail as everyone else. We bill you at the end of the month for what you sent. If you send none you pay nothing, and there is nothing to cancel.
Pay as you go has two limits. It is one user, and everything a referee sees carries our brand rather than yours. Above about 12 references a month the Solo plan costs you less.

The report carries no CheckedWell branding, you can set branding per client, and the referee form goes out under your name. It is an add-on so that a small team can have unbranded reports without buying a bigger plan.
Onboarding and branding, $200 once
We set the account up with you. That covers your logo and colours on the referee form, question sets adjusted to the roles you hire for, and sending your first reference together on a call. Larger agencies with someone to do this in house often skip it, and we often waive it, so it is worth asking.
What “unlimited” means, in a number
Fair use is 40 references per person per month on Team, Business and Corporate, and 80 on Temp agency. That is averaged over a quarter, so a busy month is never a problem. It works out at two a working day each, or four on a temp desk. If you go past it we will get in touch to understand what you are doing. It is not a conversation about money.
Common questions about pricing
- Why can I see a price without booking a demo?
- Because a small team is never going to book a demo just to see a number. We would rather you could work out for yourself whether this is worth it. You can still have a call if you want one.
- Is there a per-reference charge on a plan?
- No. A plan costs the same whether you send one reference a month or forty. Pay as you go is the only option where you pay per reference.
- Why is there no free plan?
- Every reference costs us an email, a report and storage, so a free plan would have to be paid for by everyone else. Fourteen days is enough to find out whether this works for you, and pay as you go is free to open.
- We only run a few references a month, is this for us?
- Probably not on a plan. Under about ten a month per person you are better off on pay as you go, and we would rather tell you that than take the subscription.
- Is the onboarding fee compulsory?
- No, and we waive it more often than we charge it. It covers setting up your branding and question sets with you on a call. If you would rather do that yourself, just say so.
- Why is Temp agency cheaper per seat?
- Because a temp desk needs volume rather than seats. Ten consultants running a hundred checks each would pay a fortune per check elsewhere, and a thousand dollars a month is a fair price for that.
- What happens at the end of the trial?
- The plan you chose is charged when the 14 days are up, and monthly after that. We email you a week before the first charge, and if you cancel before then nothing is taken. Nothing is deleted either way.
- How do I cancel?
- From your own account. It takes one click and does not go through us. You keep the plan to the end of the period you have paid for.
- Do referees pay, or sign up?
- No. They click a link, answer the questions and are done. Nobody asks them to create an account and nothing is sold to them afterwards.
- Where does the data live?
- The application, database and backups are in Australia. The security page lists everything that involves another country, and why.
- Can I get my data out?
- Yes, on every plan. It is a button in settings.
- Do you do police checks or right to work?
- Not yet. CheckedWell does the reference check only. If you need identity or criminal record checks today, use a screening provider alongside it.
