A reference you'd actually act on.
CheckedWell is online reference checking software for employers and recruitment agencies. References answer on their phone in a few minutes, the reminders go out automatically, and you get a report you can send straight on.
Online reference checks your references finish in five minutes
Anyone who has hired knows the reference check is the part that holds up an offer. You have the candidate and you are ready to go, and you are waiting on a former manager who has a full day of their own and has been asked to write about someone who left eight months ago.
CheckedWell is reference checking software that makes the reference's part quick. They open a link on their phone and answer in about five minutes, mostly by picking from options rather than typing. Their answers save as they go, so they can stop and come back to it, and if they are the wrong person to ask they can say so on the first screen.
The chasing is automatic. References get a reminder after two days and another after five. If there is still no answer after a week we let you know, and the link closes after two weeks so nothing is left open.
How a reference check works
There are four steps. You start the check and you read the report. The two in the middle happen without you.

Request it
Choose the candidate and the question set for the role. Add the references yourself, or let the candidate enter them.
-
Awaiting
They get a link
Each reference gets a link to one page with their name on it and your logo at the top. It tells them what is collected before any answer is stored.

Chasing
We do the chasing
References get a reminder after two days and another after five. If there is still no answer after a week we let you know, and the link closes after two weeks.

A report you can send
The report is laid out so you can compare two candidates side by side. Anything you mark as internal stays out of the copy you send on.
Two more statuses you will see less often: Expired Flagged
Where the FCRA fits, in plain English.
If you pay a screening bureau to collect references for you, what comes back is a consumer report under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. That means a standalone disclosure, written authorization before you order it, and the adverse action steps if you act on it.
CheckedWell works differently. Your own recruiter sends the request, your own account holds the answers, and we compile nothing and sell nothing. Whether the FCRA applies to how you use it still depends on your process and your state, so we will not promise that it does not. We will show you exactly what is collected so your counsel can decide quickly.
The same questions for every candidate
Each role has a structured question set, so two finalists are asked the same things in the same order. That gives you a consistent, job-related process on paper if anyone asks to see it.
Nothing we shouldn't ask
No criminal history, health or protected characteristics. The question sets do not include them and the report has no place for them.
A record of who was asked what
The reference gives consent before the first answer is stored, and there is an audit trail of who read the report and when. Most state reference immunity laws protect a factual reference given in good faith, and specific questions are how you get one.
The report goes out under your name.
Everything your client sees carries your logo and your colors, from the page the reference fills in to the finished report.
Every report comes in two versions, one to send to your client and one to keep. Anything you mark as internal stays in your copy.
See an example reportThe resume the candidate sent you, formatted with your brand.
Upload whatever the candidate sent you, whether that is a Word file, a PDF, a scan or a photo of a printed page. You get back an editable Word document on your own template, without the candidate's contact details on it. Nothing about the candidate is stored. Every plan has unlimited users and published prices, and you get 20% off both products if you take the two.
For staffing firms
Run reference checks for all your clients from one account. The report goes out under your client's brand, and the internal answers stay with you.
