Why you got the email
Someone you used to work with has applied for a job and named you as a referee. The agency or employer hiring them uses CheckedWell to collect it. We are the software; the email came from them, with their name on it.
How long it takes
About five minutes. Most of it is choosing from options rather than writing. Your answers save as you go, so if a shift interrupts you, the same link picks up where you left off.
Who reads what you write
The organisation that asked you. Some questions are marked as not shared with their client — those are seen only by them, and the form tells you which ones as you answer. Nothing you write is sold, and nothing is used to advertise to you.
What we record besides your answers
The date, the time, and the IP address of your submission. That is there to catch fraudulent references — people writing their own — and you are told before a single answer is stored, not afterwards.
If you are the wrong person
Say so. There is a button on the first screen. It takes one tap, it stops the reminders immediately, and if you know who would be better placed to comment you can say that too. This is genuinely more useful to everyone than a reference from someone who barely remembers them.
If you would rather not
Also fine, and the same button. Nobody is told you refused, only that you were not the right person to ask.
Not sure the email was genuine?
Sensible instinct. A real CheckedWell link points at a checkedwell.com address and asks you for answers about someone else — never for a password, a payment, or a document of your own. If anything on the page asks for those, it is not us. You can also ring the organisation named at the top of the page and ask.
